Samaguri Bill or Samaguri Beel is a wetland located 16 km towards the east of Nagaon district. The word beel means lake like wetland and the Samaguri Beel was formed by the abandoned path of the Kolong River with the course of time. It is also popularly known as Pokhi Tirtha or Bird Pilgrimage as a variety of species of migratory bird visit this place during winter from all over the world. The lake is situated in the Brahmaputra basin and is a famous tourist spot.
The mesmerizing view of the lake is one of the most popular things to see and when the wetland is surrounded by migratory birds then it is the best place in entire Assam. Apart from that, a nature conservation park is also there which will attract you as well.
The place is mere 16 km away from the district of Nagaon and government buses and auto rickshaw are available for you to reach the beautiful Samaguri Bill. You can also hire private cabs for reaching the bill directly in no time.
Winter is the best time of the year to visit the lake because then you can see different species of migratory birds coming from places like Siberia.
