Barnadi Wildlife Sanctuary is one place that you can visit. Though it is a good 2 hours drive, visiting the place is worth it. You would be able to spot different kinds of butterflies here along with elephants, and pigmy hog. Orang National Park is another place that you can visit.

Batha Beel is another spot for bird watchers. It is 16 km from Mangaldai. Another pond that is nearby is the Baladev Pukhuri and this pond is spread over 48 bighas. Jaypal Phukuri too is a famous place that you can visit here.

Bhairabkunda, located in Udalguri is a famous pilgrim centre and is a beautiful place to be.

In order to reach Pukhuria Beel, you can avail the local transport from any of the Darrang bus stands. The state bus service from Guwahati to Darrang takes you to the local bus stand from where you can avail taxis and private vehicles. Auto rickshaws can also take you to Pukhuria Beel in no time.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Darrang is winter that sets the environment perfect for a vacation. The season sets in from late November and continues till February and you can visit any time in between. The monsoons start from March itself and continue till August and should be avoided.
