Jaypal Pukhuri Darrang

Spread over an area of 20 bighas, Jaypal Pukhuri is a serene and beautiful pond in the Darrang district of Assam. It belongs to a village named Batkaliyajhar and was created during the reign of King Jaypal and hence the name.

This place is crowded with people during winters as it is a famous picnic spot here. The water is clear blue and the place is peaceful and tranquil. The water always stays above the ground level.

Darrang has many beautiful places to see and Jaypal Pukhuri is just one of them. If you love birds, then Batha Beel and Pukhuri Beel are two ponds that you cannot afford to miss.

The most noted tourist attraction of this place Orang National Park, also known as miniature Kaziranga. Spread over 78 sq. km, some of the dominant species of animal here are one-horned rhino, Asiatic elephant, Royal Bengal tiger, and Gangetic dolphin. You can also spot varieties of birds here.

Baladev Beel is a picnic spot here with calm and serene backdrop. If you love visiting Satras, Darrang has two of them— Dihing and Khatara. Bar Masjid is an age-old mosque here and also a revered site for the Muslims. Engil Baba Mazaar is famous for its beautiful architecture. Kamakshya Devalaya is also quite popular here owing to its cultural heritage.
