Digboi is well known as the oil city of Assam. However, there are other places of interest in this region, like the golf course amidst lush green hills and aroma of tea. Founded in 1888, the Digboi Golf Course is spread in an area of 6309 yards and is considered one of the best golf courses in the territory. The location of the golf course is ideal as the Dehing Forest Reserve is found on three sides of the golf course. On the fourth side, an amazing view of the mountain ranges situated in Arunachal Pradesh can be enjoyed. A number of major tournaments are held in this golf course each year. This is an 18 holes golf course, and near the 11th hole there are remains of an oil well. This golf course is a natural one, with very few artificial inputs. The clubhouse makes the experience of the golf course more soothing.
Evening entertainment programmes are organized in the golf club. There is the Dehing Forest Reserve which can be visited. The forest reserve is a home of a number of species of animals and birds, such as barking deer, wild boar, elephant, parakeet, hornbills etc.
The Golf Course is located at about 18 km from Margherita. Getting to the Golf Course of Digboi is not very difficult, as you will get taxi, auto and bus services in the area. Buses are the cheapest options available in the area. The Tinsukia Rail Station is not too far away from the Digboi Golf Course.
Since the golf course is located amidst the hill, it does not get too hot even during the summer. However, in the rainy season it gets difficult to play, and therefore, monsoon is the time when one should avoid this place. Winter and spring are quite pleasant.
