Koya Kujia is one of the most renowned eco-tourism spots in Abhayapuri of Bongaigaon district of Assam. It is situated near Abhaypuri, is about 15 km away from the city of Bongaigaon. Promoted by Government of Assam, this beel is also a popular picnic spot and the lake premises are heaven for migratory birds that fly down during the winter season. This is a beautiful lake with a number of small islands with abundance of flora and fauna. Bird watching is the most sought after activity here.

Getting There

There are buses and taxis available from Bongaigaon which can take you to this lake. The best idea is to hire a car from Bongaigaon, though bus services between Koyakujia beel and Guwahati are available. There are a number of bus stands in Bongaigaon such as ASTC bus stand and Chapaguri bus stand, from which buses and cabs regularly commute to this lake.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit this lake is during the winters, as a number of migratory birds can be spotted around the lake during this time of the year. Spring is also a good time as the climate remains pleasant. In the summer it can get really hot. Also, monsoon can disrupt the travel plans, therefore, that too is not the best time to visit this place.
