Celebrated for two long days in Thiksey Monastery, Thiksey Gustor is an important festival that even attracts a lot of international tourists attention. The ceremonies of the festival go like this that in the morning a special prayer with synchronized chanting of the Buddhist sūtras at this monastery takes place. The festival starts with a ceremony during which a liquid is offered to invite the Gods of four quarters. As per the legends, by offering the liquid, the gods come to witness the mask dance. Then a dance is performed by the Black Hat dancers. At the end of the dance, black hat dancers distribute the sacrificial cake, also known as the Torma during the 'Argham' ceremony. The highlight of the festival is the reenactment performed by the monks of King Lang Darma of Tibet during the mid 9th century.
