Bidan Chu Lake Sikkim

Situated en route Nathula from Zuluk, Bidan Chu is a spectacular sight to relish in Sikkim. The lake is in the Kupup Village, which is at an altitude of 4114 m above sea level, and is the highest village in the region. Resembling the shape of an elephant, the lake gleams with blue water that on sunny days shows reflection of the surrounding mountain chain. Bidan Chu is also known for reflecting multiple colours sometimes.

Getting There

The lake is on Nathu la-Zuluk Route, an ideal way to reach here is to take a taxi from Gangtok, which is some 56 kms from Nathu La.

Things to Do & See around

Bidan Chu is situated in the area’s highest village, therefore, one of the best things to do is to explore the village. The lake itself is so surreal that a photography session would be ideal. One can also visit the nearby popular attraction, Nathu La.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Bidan Chu is when the snow has melted in the area, i.e May to June and the month of October. It might be little cold in these months but the lake is not frozen and the roads to the place are also not blocked by the snow.
