Longkhum is a village located in the south-west corner of Mokokchung District, Nagaland and alike a canvas with vivid landscape photography. Tourists enjoy sightseeing of the lush green forest of the Naga Hills, including the undulating hills around from this spot. Popular Things to do & See around

One of the most popular places to visit while you’re in Longkhum Village, is Mata Yimkong. It is a beautiful hilltop where once a fortress stood guard. There is also the Jubilee Tower which is the highest point in Longkhum. You can catch glimpses of fertile farms and undulating ranch lands with a backdrop of the mountain ranges. You can pay a visit to the ‘Memorial Site of Imkongmeren’ – one of the earliest Naga freedom fighter. Down the rock formations you can trek upto ‘Longlangba’ where you can see the footprints of Ediben and Jina, the adored love birds of the Ao tribe. You can also catch the pinnacle view of the Doyang River. Don’t forget to meet the locals and their sumptuous home-made rice beer or locally known as Mejemtsu.

Getting There 

This village is located around 17 to 20 kms from main Mokokchung City; you can take shared cabs from Mokokchung Sumo Counter by 6.30 am. The tickets would cost Rs 450 per person and it’s better to pre-book your cab or you can also take a bus from Mariani to this village to reach directly.
