Entry Permits for Foreigners in Nagaland

As per the Circular dated 30.12.2010 issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the entire area of Nagaland has been excluded from the Protected Area Regime notified under the Foreigners Order of 1958. Thus, no foreigner apart from the nationals of few countries requires a permit to visit Nagaland. A foreign tourist has to merely register himself with Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO) when they visit the state within 24 hours of his arrival.

However in the following cases, the permit would be necessary for the foreign tourist

(i) If the tourist is a citizen of Afghanistan, China or Pakistan.

(ii) Citizens of Myanmar visiting Nagaland beyond 16 Kms from the Indo- Myanmar border.
