Rajmachi Wildlife Sanctuary is the blissful abode of the numerous rare species of flora and fauna, that one can spot in the densely forested foothills of the Western Ghats of Sahyadri. The rare mammoth Indian squirrels found here, stand out to be the magnetic attribute of this sanctuary. The sanctuary offers the wildlife fanatics the thrill of watching the wild animals strolling in their natural surroundings, for which the jeep trips are arranged. Apart from this, being covered with pristine greenery, this hilly terrain offers the visitors an ideal situation to connect with the nature while following the sweet calls of the colorful birds and also trekking.
Bhairavnath temple, Shrivardhan Fort and Tungarli lake are the places that one can over on its visit to Rajmachi Wildlife Sanctuary.
The Lonavala lies at the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, which is easily accessible from nearby towns like Khopoli, Karjat, Talegaon Dabhade, etc, by train or bus. And from Mumbai (82 km) and Pune (65 km) also, Lonavala is well-connected. Rajmachi Wildlife Sanctuary is just 2 km away from the railway station. There are cabs and autos available to get here.
The monsoon and winter months from June to Jan are considered to be best to visit Rajmachi Wildlife Sanctuary.
