Not many people know that Goa is home to several temples that date back hundreds of years. The Shri Navdurga Temple is one such temple, as it dates back 500 years, and was last renovated in 1603. The presiding deity of the Shri Navdurga Temple is Mahishasuramardini, the ferocious avatar of Goddess Durga. Her idol is carved out of a stone which is about 4 feet in height. Other gods whose idols you can find inside the temple are Lord Ganesha, Narayana, Grampurush & Ravalnath.

The main festival celebrated in Shri Navdurga Temple is the annual Jatra, which is held during November from Vidhya Chaturthi to Dashami.
