Satpura Tiger Reserve – A New Hub for Tiger Lovers
It was a reason to rejoice for tiger lovers all over the world. Based on the photographs clicked by tourists in November, the officials of Satpura Tiger Reserve have confirmed the arrival of seven new tiger cubs. It was the very first time that seven tiger cubs were spotted in the reserve, which covers parts of Hoshnagabad, Betul and Chhindwara districts in Madhya Pradesh.
With the entry of these cubs, the tiger popular is believed to have climbed to the number of 65 to 70. The cubs have made Satpura Tiger Reserve the talk of the town and the tiger lovers all over the nation are excited to sight these new members. Since the news is spreading fast, forest officials are expecting a huge influx of wildlife enthusiasts in the reserve that sprawls over an area of 2200 sq km.
Now that the tiger population in Satpura National Park is increasing rapidly, it is expected to rise in the list of tiger tourism destinations in India. And the state officials are toiling hard to reclaim the ‘tiger state’ tag from Karnataka, which presently has the maximum number of tiger population.
About the Park:
Satpura Wildlife Sanctuary is the pride of Madhya Pradesh, boasting rich biodiversity. Apart from tigers, it is home to leopards, chital, sambar, wild boar, mouse deer, black buck, porcupine and a number of other animals. When it comes to birds, hornbill and peafowl make for a common sight. The flora encompasses mainly teak, tendu, mahua, bamboo, bel and medicinal plants.
How to get there?
In case you are planning to visit the reserve for wildlife holidays, you will be glad to know that it is well-connected to different corners of India through airways, railways and roadways. Nearest airport is in Bhopal, which is about 200 km far and offers regular flights from Delhi, Mumbai & some other cities. The railway stations close to the reserve are Sohagpur, Pipariya & Hoshangabad, which are linked to many stations in prominent Indian cities.
