Tourist Attractions in Nanded

A popular tourist attraction Nanded has a number of places to see in and around the city. Nanded was earlier named as Nanditat. It is mainly known for the Sikh Gurudwaras and a lot of antique collections are found here. It has been said in Mahabharata that the Pandavas had travelled through this district while in exile. This place was also once ruled by the great King Ashoka. Due to its historic relevance and being a holy place, Nanded attracts a large number of tourists throughout the year.

One of the best places to visit in Nanded is the Gurudwara Hazur Sahib which is situated on the banks of the holy Godavari River. This Gurudwara has been built at the place where the Sikh leader, Guru Gobind Singh died. The room inside the Gurudwara is known as the “Angitha Sahib”. The Sahastrakund waterfall in Nanded is one of the most visited places here. This waterfall is also known as the “Niagara falls of Marathwada”. It takes about two hours from Nanded to travel to this place. The beauty of the waterfall is mesmerizing and is best enjoyed when visited during the monsoons. The other things to do while on a holiday at Nanded are to enjoy the beauty of the Trikut Village, Vishnupuri Barrage, Visava Garden, Kaleshwar Temple and the Maltekdi Ghat. Apart from sightseeing, one can also enjoy shopping here. Nanded is mostly known for its Bidri work and ‘Warli Paintings’ which are drawings made with rice flour.
