Hop, skip and jump away from Cherthala, a town located in Alappuzha district, Velorvattom is mainly known for Velorvattom Mahadeva temple, which is believed to be 700 years old. Dedicated to lord Shiva, the temple has two "nada" (entries) which is quite uncommon in Kerala temples. As per the legends, the temple is the creation of Vilwamangalam Swami, a great saint who was a Krishna devotee. Currently, the temple is maintained by Kerala Urazma Devasam Board (KUDB).

Velorvattom is located quite close to the Cherthala. Buses and taxis are easily available from all the major hubs of Kerala to reach Velorvattom.
