The state of Kerala is brilliantly connected by railways from all parts of the country. The state is said to have around 200 big and small railway stations that connect it with major cities of India like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and also provide connectivity within the state. The state has a railway network that runs from northwestern point of Kasargod to southwestern Thiruvananthapuram. Apart from the district of Wayanad and Idukki, other districts in the state are connected by rail. The major rail lines that go out from Kerala are Konkan, which connects it with Karnataka, and the one through Coimbatore, Salem, Nagercoil and Madurai connects it with Tamil Nadu.
