Muziris is an ancient seaport on the Malabar Coast and it is a must visit destination in Kerala. As a major tourist attraction to visit, Muziris was once the heart of the spice route to India. Initiated by the Government of Kerala, the Muziris Heritage Project was installed to showcase the historical and cultural significance of the legendary port of Muziris. You can witness a trade port in Kerala and it is here that the time stops and you are taken down the memory lanes. This legendary seaport traded in everything from spices to precious stones; and it is the largest heritage conservation project in India. Having more than 25 museums to acknowledge the Muziris Heritage, you can explore the history of this lost spice route in Kerala through the museums like Kerala Jews History Museum, Paliam Palace Museum, Abdul Rahman Sahib Museum, Sahodaran Ayyappan Museum etc, where you can see relics and exhibits. You can take a circuit tour and sail for a unique experience on a hop on and hop off boat services for getting around the tourist attractions. This Muziris project was done to promote awareness and for clear understanding of the cultural diversity of Muziris and also to maintain the cultural assets and to guard their historical significance for the present and future generations.
