Athirapally and Vazhachal Waterfalls Thrissur

Athirapally Waterfall

The Athirappilly Falls is situated on the Chalakudy River. It joins the Chalakudy River after plunging down 80 ft, and it vapours waft emitting cool spray that covers a large area near the falls and makes Athirapally a scenic location.

Vazhachal Waterfalls

The picturesque waterfall Vazhachal is close to impenetrable green forests. This waterfall gushes down the Chalakudy River dropping from a great height of 390 ft, it showcases beautiful backdrop of lush green Sholayar ranges.

Getting There

Thrissur railway station is closest to Athirapally and Vazhachal Waterfalls which is about 60 Kilometres from Thrissur district.

There are no airports in Thrissur, however, Cochin International Airport is about 58 km from Thrissur and it serves as the nearest airport to the travellers.

You can visit Athirapally and Vazhachal Waterfalls via national highway 544 intersecting to highway 21.

Athirapally and Vazhachal waterfalls are one of the best waterfalls in India and one of the most famous tourist places in Kerala. You can also try trekking at Athirapally and walk down to the bottom of the waterfall to enjoy the spectacular view of the waterfall in close proximity. You can also visit two amusement parks near Athirappilly and Vazhachal. The first one is a ‘Dream World,’ which is far from Athirappally; the second one is the ‘Silver Storm’ being closer to Athirappally. Silver Storm also provides cottages for a stay during your visit.

Best time to Visit

The best time to visit Athirapally and Vazhachal waterfalls is from September to February as the water would still be in full force due to close end of the monsoon season. However, you can visit these two waterfalls throughout the year because the waterfalls are never dry and they keep pouring all day long.
