Bordered by snow-capped mountains and dotted with beautiful monasteries, Wangdue Phodrang is one of the largest places in Bhutan. Here, we tell you the best way of reaching it by air and road.
The easiest, and the only way to travel to Bhutan via air, is by taking a flight to Paro. Paro has Bhutan’s only international airport. Bhutan Airlines and Druk Airlines have regular flights from Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Gaya and Siliguri. Druk Airlines also connects Singapore, Bangkok, Kathmandu and Dhaka with Bhutan. On reaching Paro, it is advisable to reach Thimphu followed by taking a cab or bus to Wangdue Phodrang. It takes an hour and a half to reach Wangdue from Thimphu.
On reaching Phuentsholing from Jaigaon, one can take a bus from Phuentsholing Bus Station to Wangdue. The distance between Phuentsholing and Wangdue Phodrang is 224 km. It takes five and a half hours to cover this distance.
