Ram Temple Paonta Sahib, Himachal

Ram Temple Paonta Sahib

This famous Hindu religious site is one of the widely visited attractions in Paonta Sahib and is located near the Yamuna Bridge in Paonta, Himachal Pradesh. The temple is known for its amazing marble architecture and is popularly known as "Mandir Shri Dei Ji Sahiba." Since it is positioned right on the bank of River Yamuna, the scenic beauty surrounding the place is worth mentioning. The marble structure of the temple looks wonderful, especially in the night, when the moonlight falls on the temple structure and on the scintillating water of the River Yamuna, which creates a glittering effect.

Highlights The temple was built in 1889 in memory of Raja Pratap Chand of Kangra, by his wife, who belonged to Sirmaur. The exquisite marble work here reminds one of the great Taj Mahal, which is purely made of white marbles. The Kirpal Dass Gurudwara is a part of Ram Temple and there are many other temples in the vicinity like Katasan Devi Temple, Shiva Temple, Nagnauna Temple, and Yamuna Temple. The presence of Gurudwara makes this temple a pilgrimage centre for both Hindus as well as Sikhs.
