About Gurudwara Dera Baba Banda in Jammu

Gurudwara Dera Baba Banda is a religious site and major pilgrimage center for Sikhs in Jammu, although it is visited by seekers of spirituality belonging to all religions and faiths, who visit it both to seek blessings and for its historical significance. The holy gurudwara, built over 300 years ago, is located in the Reasi district of Katra and is dedicated to Baba Banda Bahadur, one of the followers and favourites of Guru Gobind Singh. Baba Banda Bahadur was a Sikh military officer whose original name was Lachhman Das.

The holy site in Jammu and Kashmir houses the ashes of Banda Bahadur, along with an arrow gifted by Guru Bobind Singh to him. There is a museum inside the gurudwara which houses several items of historical value such as weapons, wall paintings, Sikh flag made from deodar wood and a sword presented by Guru Gobind Singh, among other things.

Gurudwara Dera Baba Banda - Annual Mela

A three day Annual Mela (Fair), is held at the Gurudwara Dera Baba Banda on the occasion of Baisakhi, celebrated in April every year, in which both Hindus and Sikhs take part.
