About Bahu Fort & Garden in Jammu City

Bahu fort and garden is located almost 5 kilometers away from the city center, but should be visited both for its historic significance and overall magnificence. The magnificent fort, which was built by Raja Bahulochan more than 3,000 years back, stands on a hilltop on the left bank of the River Tawi in Jammu. The fort was refurbished by Raja Gulab Singh during the Dogra Empire in the 19th century. In close proximity to the fort stands a shrine whose presiding deity is Maa Kali, a highly worshipped Hindu goddess. In the 19th century, it was renovated by the Dogra rulers. There is a lush and well manicured terraced garden stretched out right in front of the fort called Bagh-e-Bahu.
