Shri Naina Devi Ji Temple is one of the most prominent places of worship in Himachal Pradesh and is dedicated to Goddess Sati, who was an incarnation of Goddess Durga. The temple is located in Distt Bilaspur and it is one of the 51 Shakti peethas, where the eyes of Sati fell, after Lord Vishnu cut her body into 51 pieces to save the Earth from Shiva's wrath. A large crowd of pilgrims and devotees from different parts of the country visit this holy place to seek blessings of Maa Durga. The temple witnesses a huge crowd, especially during Shravan Ashtami and in the Navratras of Chaitra & Ashwin.

Highlights This temple was built by Raja Bir Chand in the eight century, when he found the beautiful image of Goddess Durga on top of the hill. A special fair is organized during Chaitra, Shravan, and Ashwin Navratri, where millions of visitors from nearby states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, visit Sri Naina Devi Ji Temple to attend the festivities. While a lot of people prefer to trek till the top of this hill, chanting Jai Mata Di, many simply take Palkis for a comfortable ride. Resting facilities are also available on the way, where tourists can relax for some time and have refreshments.

Accessibility This famous temple is connected by National Highway no. 21 and the nearest airport from here is Chandigarh, which is connected with New Delhi by Jet Airways and Indian Airlines Flights. The distance between Bilaspur and Chandigarh is approximately 100 kms, and so, I can easily access the temple via car or bus.
