Bringing relief from the scorching summer heat, the monsoon season in Uttar Pradesh starts from July and lasts till September. The state experiences a good amount of rainfall, with South Western monsoon and western disturbances bringing a good amount of rainfall. The temperature sees a dip during these three months. The average temperature ranges between 25℃ and 35℃. The monsoon winds can take the temperature as low as 20℃ during the season. However, the rainfall varies across the state and as we move from Western Uttar Pradesh to Eastern Uttar Pradesh, there is a visible change in the amount of rainfall as Eastern part experiences more rainfall every season. The average rainfall in the Central and Eastern Uttar Pradesh is between 110 and 115 cm while the Western Region including Agra and Ghaziabad experiences rainfall around 45-50 cm, the weather is pleasant, however, the monsoon showers sometimes make travelling a difficult task.
The festival of Janmasthmi, which marks the day of Krishna’s birth, is celebrated during the monsoon season and the popular tourist attractions of Mathura and Vrindavan are flocked by tourists during this time. There are plenty other monsoon getaways in the state including the Braj region. Some of the best places to visit during the monsoon season are Sarnath, Agra, Vrindavan, Lucknow, and Prayagraj.
