Information About Indian Customs and Central Excise Museum Goa

The first of its kind in India, The Indian Customs and Central Excise Museum in Goa was established to promote and appreciate the evolution of the Indian Customs and Central Excise from ancient times. The museum has a collection of items seized from smugglers.

The items have been sourced from across India and are exhibited on two floors of the museum. The ground floor gallery displays artefacts, wildlife pieces and the modus operandi of smugglers. The first-floor gallery of the museum is for central excise and narcotics items. The major highlight of the museum is ‘Gallery of Wits’ that exhibits the tricks smugglers used for avoiding paying the custom duty and how they were caught by the Customs officers.
