About Stagsboo Drass

Stagsboo is a famous tourist attraction located just 2 kilometers before Drass. It consists of a series of images carved on stone blocks, which are believed to represent Maitreya and Avalokiteshwara.

Architecture

The beautifully carved images on stone black are believed to date back to the 15th century when the entire region of Drass was under the influence of the Buddhist religion.

Among the several rock carvings are those of a lotus flower, horse rider and stupa. It is located in close proximity to the Drass/Kargil War Memorial and is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.
