The origin point of iconic Athirappilly Falls and Vazhachal Falls, Chalakudy River is the fourth longest river in Kerala. After cutting, and running through the famous districts like Palakkad, Thrissur, and Ernakulam, the river makes its way to Tamil Nadu. Chalakudy River is mainly known for its marine diversity, as it contains 98 species of freshwater fishes, out of which 35 are endemic species of the Western Ghats and 31 are either vulnerable endangered or critically endangered. For a peaceful experience, make a point to sit at the bank of river or go for a long stroll on the boulevards.
