About Shark Fin in Gulmarg, Kashmir

Shark Fin is reckoned to be the finest bowl for powder skiing in Gulmarg. Located on the backside of the lofty Mount Apharwat, Shark Fin is primarily the slope for expert skiers. The main chute from the top of Shark Fin is between 45 and 60 degrees, which is indeed quite steep even by Ski Himalaya standards.

The first few turns on Shark Fin are difficult but once the narrow chute is crossed, it becomes slightly less dangerous. Shark Fin offers a vertical drop of 300-meter. There are some tricky patches where the skier has to ride on the face between rocks and cliffs.

Shark Fin is directly visible from the top of Apharwat mountain peak and thus has become quite a popular Gulmarg tourist place to visit. It unarguably quenches the thirst of adrenaline seekers by adding more thrill and adventure to Gulmarg skiing experience.
