About Engraved Stairs in Patnitop, Jammu

A staircase carved out of a rock is what is called the Engraved Stairs or Billo ki Powri. There are around 270 steps that lead to a place called Dawariyai, a paragliding site near Patnitop. The steps are quite steep but offer an impressive view of the town of Kud as one goes up. Billo ki Powri is an important site to see near Patnitop which is visited by a large number of tourists as well as paragliding enthusiasts.

History of Engraved Stairs

Billo ki Powri or the Engraved Stairs are said to have been built by King Chenani as the shortcut to the town of Batote.

The months between March and October are the best to visit Engraved Stairs as the weather remain quite pleasant for sightseeing as well as paragliding at Dawaryai.
