The state will use eco-friendly materials as an alternative option for plastic. However, there should not be any loss to the businesses with the plastic ban in Sikkim. There will be three months’ time to deplete the prevailing stock of plastic materials, even the flow of bottled drinking water from outside is banned.
According to Marcus P Rai, Joint Secretary, Tourism & Civil Aviation department said “We are encouraging villagers to mass-produce bottles from bamboo and other biodegradable materials,”
The tourist places in Sikkim will be free of plastic from 2022. Tourists on their part have to become responsible tourists and promote eco- friendly tourism to protect the environment from harmful plastic. The aim of every traveler should be to contribute and encourage every other person to use eco- friendly and organic products.
