While looking for new travel places to talk about with you all, I came across Vietnam and you know what happened next, this blog! All my head thinks and thinks is that how can be a destination so charismatic and an all-rounder. A Southeast Asian country which has been blessed with everything whether it be innumerable natural wonders in the form of islands, sand dunes, valleys, mountains, rivers or astounding architecture like monuments, cities, temples and more has to be on every traveller’s bucket list. And the ones who don’t really take the road to mesmerising tourist destinations, here are 10 reasons why you should visit Vietnam. This trip is going to be topsy turvy, so brace yourself.
So you must have been already taken by surprise by the picture, isn’t it? Cau Vang Bridge or what some call Golden Bridge is the newest addition to the astounding beauty of Vietnam. Sitting atop a mountain, this 150 m long pedestrian bridge is the first reason that you should plan a visit to Vietnam. As you walk along with many other tourists, the flowers blooming add a refreshing feel and so do the hands holding the bridge! The hands that hold the bridge at 1400 m above the sea level are symbolic of mountain deity embracing something.
Out of the many reasons that backpackers praise Northern Vietnam, Sa Pa is one among them. If you ask me, I scrolled and scrolled the pictures of Sa Pa but couldn’t get enough. The rice paddies, valley walls and mighty mountains might make you feel a new kind of love but the trekking trails that lead to new heights at Sa Pa are otherworldly. Adventure lovers who have done tough treks before are the only ones who can take the challenges that Sa Pa offers. There are treks that are as short as half day and can extend to 2 days or more.
If you are thinking of taking a souvenir back home from Vietnam, then call your ride and drive down to Hoi An. The charming city that brings joy to travellers with its fine architecture and canals, is also the place to be in if couture fashion is your thing. Along with the many places that sell scarves, silk ties, lanterns and many such things there are shops where customized clothes are made. The skilled tailors here can turn your dream outfit be it menswear or womenswear into reality that too within 24-48 hours. So, polish your bargaining skills and set off to Hoi An in Vietnam. Also, if you are not that into custom made clothes, then there are shops where you can find great quality outfits.
Is there someone in your group that craves for adventures in Vietnam? Then a caving experience in the largest cave in the world, Son Doong is what you all should head for. Formed by Permian/Carboniferous limestone, this cave is so huge that along with having a river flowing through it and a jungle, it has its own climate. Good hiking boots, lots of water and a little extra courage is all you need to explore this cave which is also known for having world’s largest known cave passage.
As you travel towards Northeast Vietnam, you might stumble upon this bay which is known for its many islands and islets, 1600 of them. Hạ Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is another great reason to plan your vacation in Vietnam. The tranquil emerald waters, the lush rainforests or the limestone islands, this bay will be the most talked about place of your whole tour in Vietnam. Cat Ba Island, Dau Go Island, Dau Be Island, Pelican Cave and Hung Sung Sot Cave at Bo Hon Island are some of the best places to visit to enjoy the finest of Hạ Long Bay.
Being a foodie, I know that along with looking for good places to cover, my 80% concern is what all can I hog on. And I was instantly attracted to Vietnam when i heard there are endless options for foodies. To begin with, one can enjoy a bowl full of Vietnam’s national dish Pho, a noodle soup which has either chicken or beef and a touch of ginger and coriander. Other dishes that are a must try in Vietnam are Goi cuon, spring rolls filled with pork, crab, shrimps and green vegetables; Banh xeo, a spicy pancake made with pork, shrimp, egg best tried with an even spicy sauce; Bun chai, a hamburger stuffed with pork which are served with cold rice and tangy sauce.
Surreally seated in Southeast Vietnam, is the resort town which is known for giving travellers a perfect sand dunes exploration experience. It’s the white and red sand dunes that attract people from around the world who just come here to unwind and enjoy photographing the scenic views. Apart from this, people can also enjoy water activities and windsurfing, sailing and kitesurfing.
So here is a reason for the coffee lovers to pack their bags and catch a flight. Whether you are out for an afternoon tour or a night crawler looking for something to keep you up, rely on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi to fulfil your wish for getting that best coffee. A special cup of Ca phe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee) or Ca phe den (black coffee) is all you need to pick and you will good for the day. If you want to go to more exclusive tourism places, then you can try out some cafes that also have something great brewing every day!
Travellers don’t like to push back to their daily life until and unless they have absorbed the terrific sight of Mekong Delta in their head and camera. Also known by the name of Nine Dragon River Delta, this tourist attraction is the point where the Mekong River is all set to take a new start by meeting in the sea. One of the best things to do here is to enjoy a ride, take the beauty of the stunning surroundings and sit back in your boat. And that’s not all, as this place is also famous for its tropical fruits, and floating markets.
Of the several beaches in Vietnam one can make castles or spend a peaceful time at, Nha Trang Beach is my personal favourite. For visitors, this beach features the goodness of nature which it offers in the form of shimmering white sand stretching as far as one can see. And also, it doesn’t miss out on adding the modern touch with its parks and gardens. Once here, activities like snorkelling, kite surfing, banana boat rides, wakeboarding can be revelled in.
