Good News! Daily Flights Restart Between Delhi and Shimla!

Nothing comes as good as the news on World Tourism Day that travelers can now fly from Delhi to Shimla again, after a hiatus of two years. As per the latest news, daily flights between Delhi and Shimla have been resumed by Alliance Air from yesterday, September 26 onwards.

Alliance Air, the subdivision of Indian Airlines, which operates domestic routes, had expanded its connectivity in North India. Apart from Shimla, the company will also expand its network in Himachal Pradesh, to key tourist destinations like Kullu and Dharamshala. Yash Vardhan Singh, Deputy Engineer of Alliance Air said, “Alliance Air has expanded its connectivity in North India by recommencing its maiden regional connectivity scheme (RCS) route Delhi-Shimla-Delhi, which will operate daily effective September 26.”

Reportedly, Delhi Shimla Flight services were planned to resume from September 6, but it could not happen due to bad weather. September 23 was the next date, but finally, the new date was fixed for September 26.

The airline had published some more info regarding the daily flights from Delhi to Shimla on its website. The announcement says, the fare for the flights is Rs. 2,141 and it also added that, as of now, there will be only aisle and window seats with comfortable leg space in the aircraft for 30 passengers. From Delhi, the daily flights schedule is at 7:10 AM, and the flight from Shimla to Delhi is scheduled at 8:50 AM. The airlines added, “Flight 9I 821 will depart from Delhi at 0710 hrs and arrive in Shimla at 0820 hrs. Flight 9I 822 will depart from Shimla at 0850 hrs and arrive in Delhi at 1000 hrs. The introductory all-inclusive fares for Delhi-Shimla and Shimla-Delhi will be ₹2141.”

Addressing the media, Jai Ram Thakur, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh said that “This would go a long way in boosting the tourism activities in the state.” He also added that the state government has been taking constant efforts which will be boosting tourism in Himachal Pradesh in the coming days. Jai Ram Thakur also said that with the efforts taken by the Himachal Pradesh government and the support of the Union ministry of civil aviation, Alliance Air flights between Shimla and Delhi would now be operated seven days a week.

After the flight landed at Jubbarhatti airport yesterday, which is 24 kilometres away from Shimla, Suresh Kashyap, a renowned political personality said “I’m happy that Shimla as a tourist destination has got this service again. I had raised this matter with the central government time and again. It was discussed extensively with Union minister of civil aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia and he assured us that the flight to Shimla will be resumed soon.”

This will not only help tourists coming from all parts of India to visiting Shimla and other nearby places to Shimla in Himachal Pradesh but for the weekend travellers also, who want to complete their tour in a short time. As per Himachal Tourism Update, the Himachal Pradesh Government has been taking all efforts on a priority basis regarding the proposed International Green Field Airport in Mandi, which will boost Himachal Tourism in a great way.
