Winter Season in Himachal Pradesh

The season of winter begins in Himachal Pradesh in the month of November and lasts till March. Experiencing snowfall, the state gets covered with a thick blanket of snow during this season making it an ideal travel destination for snow lovers. October is the month that first starts to see the dip in the temperature and by December and January, the state turn into the place from the movie Narnia. The temperature varies between 0°C and 13°C in Himachal Pradesh. At high altitude places, the temperature drops below 0°C and roads to the popular tourist destination like Spiti Valley get closed due to heavy snowfall.

However, winter is the best time to witness and experience another beautiful side of Himachal. Some popular hill stations to visit during the winters are Shimla, Manali, Narkanda and Kasauli. With its serene atmosphere and tranquil environment, Himachal Pradesh becomes a romantic abode and one of the best places to visit for honeymooners and couples.

The winter season brings with it many adventure activities like trekking and skiing which truly satiate the appetite for thrill amongst adventurers. From December to February, Himachal Pradesh becomes a haven for skiing activities. There is also an opportunity to experience sledge rides amidst majestic and stunning snow-clad mountains and locales, during this season. Kufri, Narkanda, and Solang Nalah are some popular places for skiing adventure in Himachal Pradesh.
