140-kms from the city of Ranchi, Betla National Park is a great attraction for the tourists because of its abundant flora and fauna. Some of the common wildlife that one can see over here includes tiger, panther, sloth bear, gaur, chital, wild bear, sambhar, nilgai, kakar and mouse deer. It also encloses waterfalls, hot springs, many historical monuments and a fort situated deep within the forest. Wildlife enthusiasts would love to visit Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary nestling in the lower terrain, at an altitude of 18,00ft. Numerous observation towers in the sanctuary make it all easier for the visitor to have a closer look at the wilds. The Palamu Tiger Reserve is the oldest tiger reserve in India, situated 25-kms from Daltonganj at the south of Chhota Nagpur plateau.
