The famous Sangla Buddhist Monastery is located near Reckong Peo in Brelengi Thus, and is also known as Brelengi Gompa, in Sangla. The monastery was founded in 1992 by the Mahabodhi Society to assist the Dalai Lama to perform the Kalachakra ceremony. It is one of the best and most popular places nearby Sangla, where large number of tourists visit everyday. The monastery displays modern Buddhist edifice and near to the monastery is a 10 meter high statue of standing Buddha, which looks majestic.
