About Rangdum Monastery in Kargil, Ladakh

Rangdum Monastery resembles more a fort than a monastery, much of which is because it sits atop a mountain on an outcrop. Its picturesque location and rich collection of various artefacts makes it a must visit tourist attraction in Ladakh.

Rangdum Monastery is located about 160 kilometers from Kargil at an altitude of 3,657 meters, at the head of Suru Valley. It is surrounded by hills, rocky outcrops and snow capped peaks in the distance.

Things to see inside Rangdum Monastery

One of the main attractions inside Rangdum Monastery is the central prayer hall, which has an amazing collection of Tibetan & other artefacts. Almost 40 monks reside inside the monastery.
