In the suburbs of Prayagraj, is located a sacred village and a popular excursion destination of Shringverpur. The place also has its mention in the Hindu epic, Ramayana, where it is recognized as the capital of Nishadraj Kingdom and was one of the places where Lord Rama along with his consort, Sita, and brother, Lakshman stayed for a night during their exile.  At this must-visit place around Prayagraj, a temple of Shringi Rishi was excavated. As per the beliefs, the name of the place was kept after the same sage.
