Nubra Valley is blessed with a unique landscape, where one can see desert, meadow and mountains all at the same time and in the same place. Being a high altitude destination, the place experiences harsh winter. Summer season is though quite pleasant, and unlike other places in India, Nubra or either Ladakh Region does not have a monsoon period. In fact what are considered to be the monsoon months i.e July, August and September are the best time to visit Nubra Valley.
The month of June to September are considered as the summer months, when the ice melts and the roads open. Needless to say that this is the best time to visit Nubra Valley and enjoy its many vistas. One should note that, even though the day time is warm, the evenings get pretty cold.
The month of October marks the onset of the winter season in Ladakh. The main passes like Rohtang (towards Manali) and Zoji (towards Srinagar) also close down and get covered in ice. The minimum temperature in Nubra Valley during winter is around -10°C.
