As you recover, a prosthetic voice box is implanted in the throat to help you speak. Finally, the throat muscles and the neck are closed with the stitches.
After the surgery, you may need to stay in the hospital for about three to five days. Follow up visits are needed ten days after the discharge. A total of 15 days or more is required to get a laryngectomy done and recover after that.
