Facelift Surgery in India

Facelift surgery in India has gained popularity over a few years. A facelift is a surgical procedure performed to improve the visible signs of aging in the face and neck. The procedure involves pulling a flap of skin on both sides of the face and altering the tissues below the skin. This procedure will reduce skin folds and sagging of the skin on the jawline and cheeks and give a younger appearance.

Eligibility for facelift surgery

A suitable candidate for facelift surgery is one who:

  • Is bothered by the age-related changes in the face
  • Has sagging skin in the cheeks, jawline and/or neck
  • Has deep folds of skin on the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth
  • Does not smoke
  • Does not have any medical conditions that can affect healing
  • Has realistic goals and a positive outlook

Procedure of facelift surgery

Facelift surgery is a highly tailored procedure. The approach and techniques used for the procedure are dependent on the individual’s desired results.

In a traditional facelift, an incision is made in the hairline at the temples and continues down, on the front of the ears and ends in the lower scalp behind the ears. The fat may be redistributed or sculpted from below the skin, the underlying tissue is repositioned, and the deeper muscles and layers of the face are also lifted. The skin is then placed over the repositioned tissues, and the excess skin is cut. Another incision under the chin may be made to do similar changes in the neck.

Limited incision is an alternative approach for a facelift procedure. In this technique, a shorter incision is made above the ear, which continues down and ends around the front of the ear rather than the lower scalp. This technique is usually used for patients with less relaxed skin.

For a neck lift, the incision is made in front of the earlobe, which extends around the ears and ends behind the ear in the posterior hair. A small incision can also made under the chin. This approach is used to address the loose neck skin, sagging jawlines, and fat accumulation under the skin.

The incisions are closed either with skin adhesives or sutures.
