A beautiful lake near Tawang, Shonga-tser is one of the best tourist destinations in the region. The lake is also famous as Madhuri Lake after the popular Bollywood actress, Madhuri Dixit who was here for a shoot of a song of a movie named Koyla. The lake is 42 kms away from Tawang and is ideal for photography. It is said an earthquake led to the formation of Shonga-tser Lake in 1971, which was then a grassland. Shonga-ster is also surrounded by picturesque snow-capped mountains that add to the charm of this sightseeing place.
Getting There
Tawang is at a distance of about 42 kms from Shonga-tser and in order to reach here, one has to avail a cab.
Things to Do & See in and around
An ideal thing to do here would be photography. Apart from this, the route to Shonga-tser is dotted with many small lakes, and thus one can enjoy stopping by these places as well.
Best Time to Visit
One can visit throughout the year, however, the summer months are quite apt to plan a trip.
