Chandrabadni Temple Uttarakhand

Dedicated to Goddess Sati, Chandrabadni Temple is a holy Hindu shrine which is perched on top of the mountain of the same name at an altitude of 2277 m above the sea level. A small Hindu temple situated in the district of Tehri Garhwal of the state Uttarakhand, Chandrabadni is also reckoned to be one of the Shaktipeethas. As per the Hindu mythology, the torso of the Goddess Sati fell here when Lord Shiva was carrying her burnt body. It is believed that her weapons are also scattered over this place. Chandrabadni is an important pilgrimage site in Uttarakhand despite being a deity less small temple that contains a Shree-yantra carved out on a flat stone.

    Although Rishikesh is the nearest railway station from the place which is around 110 km, Haridwar is the nearest active railway station from Chandrabadni and is located at a distance of 131 km. One can take taxi/cab or local transport to reach the Chandrabadni and thereafter a 1 km trek from taxi stand to Chandrabadni Temple.

    The nearest bus stand from Chandrabadni is in Devprayag which is 33 km from the place. Buses are available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Delhi to Devprayag. After reaching Devprayag, you have to cover the remaining distance by taxi/cab or local transport to Chandrabadni. In order to reach the temple, you have to undergo a 1 km trek starting from taxi stand.
