Dr. Raj Kanna is one of the successful Orthopaedic and Knee surgeon in Asia who is specialized in performing Computer-Assisted Knee Replacement and Key-Hole surgery of the knee. He created a niche in the field of Orthopedics with his success stories. Advanced knee surgeries, such as computer-assisted partial and revision knee replacement surgeries were performed by him for the first time in India. Dr. Kanna also made a mark in the field of sports injuries by using key-hole technology with minimal tissue damage and rapid healing. It helped many notable sportsmen and women to get back to their sports life. Dr. Kanna’s Anatomical ACL reconstruction technique, for ACL ligament tear, helps to bring back the complete knee function and natural feel to the joint.

The experience gained by Dr. Kanna made him to design instruments used in knee replacement surgeries. He has designed two femur re-cutting blocks used for primary and revision total knee arthroplasty and also developed a simple technique for re-cutting the femur. Dr. Kanna did his MBBS and Masters in Orthopedic Surgery, followed by fellowship in computer assisted joint replacement surgery and overseas knee fellowship.

He is the first-ever to write a comprehensive review on partial knee replacement. He also enjoys spreading his knowledge by working as Associate Professor in teaching aspiring young surgeons and serving the underprivileged.

He is a member of many associations, such as Indian Medical, Tamil Nadu Orthopaedic Association and Indian Orthopaedic Association. He also co-authored a chapter named "Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty" in the “Textbook of Orthopaedics and Trauma" published by Indian Orthopaedic Association.

  • Postoperative limb alignment and its determinants after minimally invasive Oxford medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty. 
  • Efficacy of periarticular injection of bupivacaine, fentanyl and methylprednisolone in tka: a prospective, randomized trial in patients undergoing simultaneous bilateral tka. 
  • Variability in the range of inter-anterior superior iliac spine distance and its correlation with femoral head center. A prospective computed tomography study of 200 adults. 
  • Comparison of limb and component alignment using image intensifier guided conventional versus computer assisted total knee arthroplasty: a prospective, randomised, single-surgeon study of 467 knees.
  •  Quantification of effect of sequential posteromedial release on flexion and extension gaps: a computer-assisted study in cadaveric knees using 2 different types of distractors.
