Pilgrimage In Bageshwar
Bagnath Temple
Situated in the heart of the town lies the ancient Shiva temple.
The temple is flooded with devotees on the annual occasion of Shivratri.
This place has a cluster of temples. Prominent among these temples
are the Bhairav temple, Dattatrey Maharaj, Ganga Mai temple, Hanuman
temple, Durga temple, Kalika temple, Thingal Bhairav temple, Panchnam
Junakhara and the Vaneswar temple.
Chandika
Temple
A beautiful temple dedicated to Goddess Chandika stands at a distance
of about half a kilometre from Bageshwar. Every year , the temple
bustles with activity as the devout congregate here to offer pujas
to the deity during the Navratras.
Shri
Haru Temple
Another important temple, the Shri Haru temple, is situated
at a distance of about 5 kms. from Bageswar. The devotees believe
that prayers for wish fulfilment here never go in vain. Every year,
a large fair is organised on the Vijaya Dashmi day following the
Navratras.
Gauri
Udiyar
This is situated 8 kms. from Bageswar. A large cave, measuring 20
x 95 sq. mts. is situated here, which houses idols of Lord Shiva.

Fair & Festivals
Uttarayani Mela
This fair is held at a number of places including Bageshwar, Rameshwar,
Sult Mahadev, Chitrashila (Ranibagh), Hanseshwar etc. on Uttarayani
day. At Pancheshwar the dola of Chaumu comes down to the temple.
Merchants from far off distances like Tibet and Nepal come to the
fair for brisk trading. Among the things bought and sold are blankets,
durries, cane & bamboo articles.
Shivratri
Fair
This fair is held on the occassion of Shiva Chaturdashi. A huge
throng of devotees gather at the ancient Shiva Temple situated in
the midst of the town.

EXCURSIONS
Kanda
This picturesque place is treat for nature lovers and is 25 km s
from Bageshwar on Bageshwar chaukori motor road. Ancient Bhadrakali
temple is near Kanda.
Vijaypur
Situated 30 kms from Bageshwar on Bageshwar Chaukori motor road.
Vijaypur offers beautiful view of the snow capped Himalayan ranges.
Baijnath
23 kms from Bageshwar town on Bageshwar Almora.
Gwaldam motor road. Situated on the banks of river Gomti. Many temples
with idols of Shiva & Parvati can be seen from here.
