As per the beliefs, it is the place where Lord Krishna was gifted the Kawatch (armour) of Karna. This is the reason that it also touted as one of the sacred tourist places in Meerut. The park also house a historical pond, which was built by a merchant Lawar Jawahar Lala in the year 1714.

Suraj Kund Park remains open for tourists all days of the week. One can visit the place on any day from 5 in the morning to 9:30 in the evening.
Suraj Kund Park can be visited throughout the year. However, the best time to visit the place is the winter season. Commencing from November, winter season enjoys cool and pleasant weather condition which is quite favourable for tourism. The season ends in the month of February.
