Road, the Kanniga Parameswari Temple is devoted to Goddess Shakti - the goddess of power in Hindu Mythology. Goddess Shakti is the manifestation Goddess Durga who is counted amongst the prime deities of Pondicherry. Inside the temple complex, there is a large effigy of Lord Ganesha along with the presiding deity of the temple. The beautiful architecture of Kanniga Parameswari Temple is a perfect mix of French and traditional Tamil design. The ceiling of the sanctum also boasts a traditional Tamil design. Along with that, the interior of the sanctum also includes motifs on the granite pillars. Moreover, the arched temple walls are beautifully adorned with the designs of angels and various heavenly creatures. Besides, the magnificent architecture of Kanniga Parameswari Temple includes stained glass panes that are typification of French shrines.

Like the most of the tourist attractions in Pondicherry, Kanniga Parameswari Temple is also best to visit in the winter season when the weather of the city remains cool and pleasant. The season starts in the month of October and continues until March.
