Kangla Fort Imphal

Being one of the most important historic and archaeological site, the Kangla Fort is located in the heart of the capital city of Manipur- Imphal. The Kangla Fort is constructed in such a way and the stories associated with it depicts the rich history and speaks proudly of its culture and traditions. Also, the fort is a symbol of the state's glory which was improvised and beautified by several successive kings. History

The fort was the tradition seat of the kingly governance that was there from the rule of the legendary God-king Nongda Lairen Pakhangba in 33A.D to Maharaj Kulachandra in 1891 A.D. Once the home of the Manipuri royals, the fort was soon overrun by the British and later the Assam Rifles. As we are moving ahead in years, the significance of the place has slowly been eroded.
