Just a kilometre northwest of the centre of Jamnagar city stands the Ayurvedic University, the first of its kind to be established in 1967. It is a statutory university dedicated to the study and research of the principles and practices of Ayruveda. The university has played a major role in the revival of the science of Ayurvedic medicine.
The hospital treats around 1000 patients (inpatients and outpatients) on daily basis. Poor patients get free treatment, food and clothing from the hospital. The institution has its own botanical garden where medicinal herbs are grown. Teachings of the ancient science of Ayurveda are imparted, along with Yoga and Naturopathy, to the students in the form of short term and long term courses. Foreign students too come to study here, giving a nice international feel to the university.
A visit to Jamnagar for the purpose of holiday can be made more fruitful by coming to the Ayurvedic University and getting an Ayurvedic solution for any doubt or problem you are going through.
