A must-see attraction here is the Gaden Namgyal Lhatse, popularly known as Tawang Monastery. Founded in 1680–81, this historic monastery stands at an altitude of about 10,000 ft and is an important centre of Mahayana Buddhism. The best time to visit Dzukou Valley for its famous floral display is around June and July, particularly during the peak flowering period. However, the monsoon can make the trekking trails wet and slippery, so visitors should plan accordingly.
