Goa Tourism Boom: 6.14 Million Tourists Visit Between January and July 2026

Goa’s tourism sector saw 61.38 lakh (6.14 million) tourist arrivals between January and July 2026, including 59.02 lakh domestic travellers and 2.36 lakh international tourists. Overall arrivals were up a modest 0.08% from the same period last year, but July stood out with a 2.27% year-on-year rise, pointing to stronger interest in Goa tourism even during the monsoon season.

Goa Tourism Update

The latest figures from the Goa Department of Tourism show that the state continues to draw a strong domestic crowd. Domestic travellers made up the vast majority of the 61.38 lakh arrivals recorded between January and July, while 2.36 lakh visitors came from overseas.

The more notable movement came in July:

  • 94 lakh tourists visited Goa in July 2026.
  • Arrivals were 2.27% higher than July 2025.
  • January–July arrivals grew by just 0.08% year-on-year.

The July increase is particularly relevant because monsoon is traditionally treated as a quieter tourism period in Goa.

Goa Looks Beyond the Beach Holiday

Goa Tourism India

The latest Goa tourism push is looking beyond the usual beach holiday, with the state promoting experiences around wellness, heritage, adventure, gastronomy, spirituality, MICE and workations- segments that can bring visitors to Goa at different times of the year. It also gives travellers more reasons to explore Goa tourism attractions beyond the usual beach circuit, especially during the greener, quieter monsoon months.

This approach also supports Goa’s monsoon tourism push, when the state can lean on its greener landscapes, food culture, heritage and indoor experiences instead of relying mainly on beach weather. Alongside this, Goa Tourism is looking to strengthen international air connectivity and tap both established and emerging overseas markets.

What the Numbers Mean for Upcoming Holidays?

With July showing renewed demand, Goa Tourism expects the second half of 2026 to benefit from the festive, leisure, MICE and international travel seasons.

For travellers planning holidays in Goa, the shift is becoming visible in the experiences being promoted beyond the main beach belt. While popular tourist destinations in Goa such as its major beaches continue to draw visitors, a monsoon trip can also include a walk through Fontainhas, a visit to the heritage churches of Old Goa, a spice plantation experience in Ponda, or a day around Dudhsagar Falls and the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. The state is also pushing wellness, gastronomy, adventure and workation experiences to keep Goa relevant beyond the traditional winter beach season.
