Brief History of ISKCON Temple Kolkata

ISKCON Society was founded by Srila Prabhupada in 1966 in New York City. Srila was from Kolkata and in 1965, he visited New York in order to establish the culture of Krishna consciousness. And in 1966, the first ISKCON centre was founded on the occasion of New Year. With time, the number of centres increased to 108 in major cities all across the globe. In India, the first ISKCON centre was established in 1971 in Kolkata.

Being one of the top places of tourist interest in Kolkata, ISKCON Temple remains open all days a week. Devotees can visit the place on any day from 4:30 AM to 8:30 PM. Throughout the day, various aartis are observed at the temple at different timings:

  • Darshna Aarti and Guru Puja at 7:30 AM
